(966) 920011626Most dogs and cats are candidates for a professional dental cleaning without the use of anesthesia. Our board-certified veterinarian and veterinary technicians have the professional experience necessary to remove plaque and tarter buildup above and below the gum line to improve your dog or cat’s overall health, appearance, breath and more.
Our team will conduct a thorough examination of your pet’s teeth and gums. Our team has years of experience which enable them to provide safe and fast removal of tartar and plaque from your pet’s teeth, followed by polishing, an anti-bacterial rinse, and then application of Oravet tooth sealant to slow down the buildup of plaque and tarter over time.
Non-anesthesia treatment allows your pet to bypass the need for anesthesia during their teeth cleaning in a safe environment using proprietary techniques while under sedation with close monitoring of all your pet’s vital signs. Just like getting your own teeth cleaned, your pet remains awake. When the procedure is done, we are able to reverse the effects of the sedation.
Recovery time for pets is typically less than an hour. Our approach offers the same benefits to having teeth cleaned while under anesthesia. We are able to comfortably work with just about any pet to ensure the best results without the cost, time and recovery needed using anesthesia. Rest assured your pet will receive the highest quality care every visit.
Dogs or cats that are 7 years of age or older are considered seniors. For senior pets, we start with a wellness exam and do a full blood panel to ensure that they are healthy enough for the procedure to ensure their safety. In the event that something shows up in the exam or the bloodwork results that is not favorable, we will address this with you to recommend a proper course of treatment.
In addition to cleaning your dog or cat’s teeth, our veterinarian performs a dental exam to check various indicators of oral health:
The vet will check for the amount of tartar buildup on the teeth and gums.
They will check for any lumps or growths in the mouth.
The vet will observe the animal’s behavior for signs of discomfort or pain while eating or being handled.
They will check for any loose teeth, which may indicate periodontal disease.
They will look for redness, swelling, and bleeding of the gums.
The vet will check for any foul smell coming from the animal’s mouth.
They will check for bacteria and plaque that can cause gingivitis and other dental problems.
The vet will check for any damage or fractures in the teeth.
They will check for any malocclusions or misalignment of the teeth.
The vet will evaluate the animal’s overall oral health and recommend appropriate treatment or preventive measures.
NOTE: Dental Prophylasxis, by law, is only allowed under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Do not allow any groomer to do this. Groomers are limited to brushing your pets teeth.
Most dogs and cats build up plaque and tartar on their teeth very quickly. If left untreated, this can lead to periodontal disease and gingivitis due to plaque buildup. To protect your pet, you should have their teeth cleaned during a wellness and oral exam at least once a year and as the pet matures, twice a year.
Dogs and cats don’t have the luxury of brushing their teeth a few times a day like their owners. It doesn’t take that long for your pet to build up plaque and tartar which creates bad breath and a breeding ground for stained teeth and eventually gingivitis and gum disease. A dog can’t tell you his tooth was chipped chewing on a bone or a toy. That is why a periodic dental exam and cleaning is so important for the long-term health of your pet.
